My name is Elaine Nelson; I am from Rome and have lived there and the surrounding area my entire life. I am married to Robert Nelson, the owner of Adirondack Machine Tool and an accomplished machinist. We have two children: Dan lives in Rome and is the head of maintenance at Mohawk Correctional Facility, and Katie lives in Indiana with her husband, Jon, and their two daughters, Marie Wren and Whitney Ray. My daughter is a Research Scientist at Elanco Pharmaceutical, and Jon works for Apple. Our love of the area led to our purchase of a home in Big Moose, which we enjoy year-round. I enjoy many outdoor activities and the fresh, clean air in the North Country. Most of all, I appreciate the wonderful community we have here. Our family also has a home in Rome, which is an 1840 farmhouse that is a part of the original family farm.
I have been in real estate for a number of years, working mainly in the Old Forge, Inlet, and Big Moose areas. I recently joined Timm Associates Sotheby’s International Realty in Old Forge. I was previously affiliated with Hunt Realty and Benn Realty. I have also bought, sold, and renovated many of our properties for personal and investment purposes. I have a BA Degree in Psychology and worked in Mental Health and Human Services in the Utica/Rome area and for the Department of Corrections. I have gained valuable experience working with a diverse population of people and their families.
I belong to the Mohawk Valley Association of Realtors, the Adirondack Champlain Valley Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. I have training in Real Estate Negotiations, Strategic Listing, and Marketing. In addition, I have training in Probate Real Estate and enjoy helping people sort through the many tasks families and individuals have when a person passes away.
